Type Locality and Naming

Along the Koykebiltau Mountain, watershed of the Arysy-Keltemashat rivers, western part of the Talas Alatau range. O.I. Sergunyukova, 1959 (382, p. 64). Stratotype on the southern slope of Koykebiltau Mountain.

Synonym: Koykebiltauskaya Suite, Койкебильтауская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Layered, dark gray, biomicroitic, organogenic-detrital limestones, often with clay admixture and flint nodules, often layers of shell limestone are encountered. Thickness 70-250m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Lies conformably on the Keltemashat Fm

Upper contact

Conformably overlain by the Uzunbulak Fm or Sleslavin Fm. (165; 439; 460).

Regional extent

South-western spurs of the Talas Alatau range.

Contains conodonts Declinognathodus noduliferus El. et Gr., together with Gnathodus bilineatus Roun. (praenoduliferus zone) at the bottom of the suite; brachiopods - Linoproductus corrugatus M'Coy, Productus concinnus Sow., Rugosochonetes dalmanianus Kon.; foraminifers Plectostaffella varvariensis (Br. et Pot.), Propermodiscus krestovnikovi Vdov., Neoarchaediscus postrugosus (Reitl.).
